Bloc Festival are turning the electronic music scene on its head by booking 90s hip hop queens Salt ‘n Pepa as headliners. This is exactly how Bloc like to mix things up, with all shades of techno, dubstep, house, turntablism, big beat and braindance in a club setting for three days and nights on the trot. It’s going to be extreme.

The line up this year is bigger than ever before, packed full of headliners. Bloc has always prided itself on being a techno led dance festival really hammering the message home at Bloc this year programming one of the most talked about live sets of the summer from Moderat. We can look forward to sets from Border Community’s Nathan Fake and BPitch Control’s Ellen Allien among the great of the techno world and especially the real deal in techno Model 500 (Juan Atkins who has long been heralded the inventor of techno and ‘Mad’ Mike Banks) will be performing a very rare live set.

And of course aside to the four to the floor techno there will be plenty of bass music, Bloc themselves have been booking in the big names in 4X4, bass and 2-Step including exclusive back to back sets climaxing with Skream b2b Benga. Plus the festival has expanded its’ programming to represent the baddest crews in the UK with Rinse FM, Subloaded and Braindrop all presenting their own showcases.

Plus new for 2010 funded by Fenchurch they are constructing a whole extra room – The Fenchurch dome - set out to encapsulate ravers in a unique AV environment.  The highlight of this 3-dimensional, 360 degree clubbing experience looks to be electro bass king Keith Tenniswood aka Radioactive Man performing debuting his new live set filled with previews of his soon to be released album. This stage looks to be the one for underground raw electro and techno sounds with Luke’s Anger, Michael Forshaw, Debasser and Ninja Tune artist Ben Pest joining Mr. Tenniswood in this amazing setting. Bloc has everything there for the hedonist and the electronic music geeks, it is a jumping party, with a crowd of uniquely lovely people and internationally definitive line-up of boundary pushing dance music. And no portaloos!

Bloc 2010 is at Butlins Maidenhead from 12th-14th March. Full line up and tickets are on their website www.blocweekend.com. Read an exclusive interview with Salt n' Pepa in the April issue of Dazed & Confused out March 18th
