Not to be confused with the similarly named Wisconsin variety band.

The Twerps, formed in late 2008 are spearheading Melbourne's lo-fi scene with their unabashed simplicity. We speak to guitarist/vocalist Marty Frawley and drummer Patrick O'Neill about their distinctly Antipodean sound and their excitement for Avatar.

Pat: 3 parts Australian, 1 part New Zealand or somewhere thereabouts.

Marty: Probably Rick's style.

... your tip for 2010?
Pat: A band will be inspired by a Flying Nun band.
Marty: Avatar is here!

... the story behind your name?
Pat: We thought it was the best adjective to describe us as a whole.
Marty: Not what Pat said!

... your worst vice?
Pat: Besides alcohol & cigarettes?
Marty: Acting like a child.

... your dream musical collaboration?
Pat: Paul Kelly.
Marty: Alexander Henry

... on your stereo?
Pat: Right now it's the Kurt Vile - Huntchback EP
Marty: Right now I'm in bed... but when i get up.. The Moles!!!

... best advice?
Pat: Always keep a spare pair of undies behind your knee.
Marty: Don't ask Pat for advice!

Pat: The bulge behind my right knee is a spare pair of undies.
