He performed ‘This Is America’ at a community charity event
Chance the Rapper held an Open Mike Chicago event last night, where he surprised the high-school audience by bringing out Donald Glover to perform “This Is America”, his number one single as Childish Gambino.
Open Mike is a free event from Chance the Rapper and his SocialWorks charity. Anyone with a high school ID could attend the event, which encourages youth participation in the arts. Yesterday’s event was held at the Harold Washington Library Center.
Though Glover has previously said that the next Childish Gambino album will be his last, he’s also said that he might have a collaborative mixtape with Chance on the horizon. The two artists have previously collaborated on tracks like “They Don’t Like Me”, “Favorite Song”, and “The Worst Guys”. They also toured and worked together while Chance was still emerging, as our 2013 cover story with the rapper explored.
