Sure, why not
Mary J Blige is heading to television – the musician and actress will be co-starring in The Umbrella Academy, an upcoming Netflix series based on the graphic novels by My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way.
The Hollywood Reporter report that Blige will be co-starring in the Jeremy Slater-penned adaptation of Way’s crtically-acclaimed comic series, which ran from 2007 and until 2013. The Umbrella Academy will tell the story of a dysfunctional family of superheroes who work together to solve the mystery of their father’s death.
Blige is set to play Cha-Cha, a sadistic hitwoman who travels through time to kill her targets. It will be her second collaboration with Netflix, as Mudbound was distributed by the streaming giant. Blige has been nominated for both best supporting actress in the film, but has also been nominated for best original song with “Wild River”.
