This year, Dazed Digital will be heading off to the Øya music festival in Oslo, Norway, to make merry in a medieval theme park, soundtracked by a tasty line-up including CocoRosie, The Melvins, Lady Sovereign, Yo Majesty, The Boredoms, Roky Erikson, Jesus and Mary Chain, Battles, Lily Allen, Justice, Eagles of Death Metal, New Young Pony Club, and Bonde do Role, plus a whole bunch of acts with Scandinavian-type names that we can't pronounce.

It's in the heart of the city, but on some sort of island and surrounded by water, and there's a fistful of different club nights happening in town to head to after the different nights of the festival, with the Ed Banger mob, Richie Hawtin, and London krautrock shindig Kosmiche all representing.

The food is "100% ecological", whatever that means, although it's got to be better than the toxic slop masquerading as chicken curry we tried and failed to keep down at T in the Park a few years ago. All that, and festival furniture supplied by sponsors IKEA. Which has got to be better than sharing a soggy haybale.

Øya Festival takes place from 08-11 August.  Watch this space for the Dazed Digital report.
