When I was younger there was this one club in Chelmsford that would let anyone in, however young you looked. So when I was 15 I went every Wednesday and all they played was UK garage. It was great.

It was all about Ben Shermans and River Island, big tunes and trigga fingers in the air. We even had DJ Luck and MC Neat down one week. Then at the weekends we'd go out and buy Pure Garage tape packs so we could listen to Zed Bias in science lessons.

My girlfriend says that garage is the shittest thing ever. She's probably right.

Here's my top 5 garage classics. Long liveClub Zeus.

1. Wookie - Battle
2. Zed Bias feat. Nicky Prince & MC Rumpus - Neighbourhood
3. Deekline – I Don't Smoke
4. Double 99 – Rip Groove
5. DJ Zinc – 138 Trek

Ben Esser's new single "I Love You"/"Long Arm" is out now on Merok.
