Music / IncomingMicachu and the Shapes Tour Diary: Part 1On tour in Canterbury, London and Southampton Micachu, Raisa and Marc do quality checks on pizza and get excited over Guitar Hero.ShareLink copied ✔️December 11, 2008MusicIncoming Micachu and the Shapes gives Dazed Digital a diary complete with random snaps of what went down on their recent tour:CanterburyMicachu: First day of the tour. Guitar broke during first song but was a nice crowed the DJ played lots of pop songs we liked and the first band J Gestion were really odd and fun. Was good that people were there. Someone said it was “rad” which was nice.Raisa: Soundcheck was tricky, I thought my ears and my laptop were failing me…after an hour realized that it was just my monitor that wasn’t working! Relief, I’m not going crazy. Also discovered whisky for the first time…much needed after bad pizza hutting!Marc: Yesterday at Cardiff was so good it felt like the first day of tour. Felt refreshed after drive and tea serving was nice after soundcheck, however was spoilt by RUBBISH pizza hut pre-gig. LondonMicachu:We had the most fantastic bands who we love playing with us the amazingly inventive and snooker obsessed LIme Headed Dog and our favourite boyfriend nutty bangers band the Laurel Collective. Both bands were amazing and it was great to play with them. The gig its self was fun and it was an audience full of friends which was nice. My old composition teacher Simon Speare turned up for his birthday and got pretty shit faced which was great. Raisa: Fantastic sound engineer gave us and all the other bands great sound on stage and out front. Had heard lime headed dog before, but in a more stripped down version a year before this gig and really love how they’re developing it. The Laurel Collective got my blood pumping and ready for our gig…which was much fun…a very attentive audience. Discovered not to drink more than two whiskys.Marc: Lime Headed Dog are SICK! Laurel Collective were pumping and tight as always. Felt strange being the hosts for the night. Lot of responsibility making sure other bands have what they need and have drinks! Hope it was OK guys…!CambridgeRaisa: Saw my lovely cousin who lives in Cambridge and had pizza with him and his friends. The gig was in a really nice art space created by students with visuals and musical things to keep people entertained. Gig was really fun…again had a really quiet attentive audience.Micachu: The night was called tape modern and it was run by Cambridge students. We had a lovely warm reception and people actually danced! The average IQ of the crowd was very high so I tried to be as articulate as possible didn’t work. Marc. Really interesting open project space. People were really attentive for the acoustic support guy, they didn’t just talk over him was is a nice change from other gigs. Very nice hosts, hope we go up there again.SouthamptonRaisa: We played here about a month before supporting the wonderfull Esser and that went really well so we were all looking forward to going back to Southampton. Banged my head though …on the bit at the side of your head where your jaw and skull join and my teeth hurt for days after. Thankyou for the amazing rider.Marc: Good to be back at this venue having supported Esser a few weeks previous. Another good crowd, had GOOD pizza and an amazing rider. Thankyou Southampton!Micachu: GUITAR HERO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Escape the algorithm! Get The DropEmail address SIGN UP Get must-see stories direct to your inbox every weekday.
