Mirror Mirror Video Premiere: 'Interiors'

Set to release their new album entitled 'Interiors' on RVNG Intl (the label who brought you Blondes, Hype Williams and CFCF), New York-based band Mirror Mirror premiere their new 'Interiors' video on Dazed featuring Rumi Missabu, one of the last surviving members of the 60s psychedelic San Francisco group, The Cockettes. Appearing in a black column dress designed by Lauren Devine, Missabu in the black & white video combines influences from traditional Butoh dance, film noir and THX 1138 to eerie effects in a modern, minimal background.

…the story behind your name?
We wanted a name that could work equally well for a band, perfume, car, or multinational corporation (in case we ever wanted to expand). Mirror Mirror was the only name that was not a swear in any language.

...your favourite sound?
There's a mockingbird in the neighborhood who can imitate all the sounds of a car alarm. I've been trying to sample him, but he's hard to track down.

...your worst fashion secret?
Blacklight nail polish. And back to the beach: salt water is the best hair product.

... good for breakfast?
I like to drink my breakfast through a straw, so usually a smoothie or juice--orange, grapefruit, ginger is very energizing. Maybe a spirulina tablet if I'm hungry.

...the best thing about where you're from?
Gay divorce is now legal in New York City.

...at the top of your shit list?
I don't do shit lists. I think negative people have a talent for doing themselves in.

How would you describe your work?
Therapeutic. For me and hopefully for other people as well.
