The new series will be bringing talents from across the globe with Joy Orbison, Moodymann, Larry Heard, and Robert Owens to boot. This weekend's party will see Monkeytown's Siriusmo bring out his influences from disco, hip-hop, house, and electro in his unique experimental style. Having remixed the likes of Gossip, Simian Mobile Disco and Digitalism in the past, Siriusmo aka Moritz Friedrich is now set to release his latest album, Mosaik on Monkeytown Records. Dazed Digital: Your music has been quite eclectic over the years, how do you feel your sound has changed/progressed over time and was it a conscious decision?Siriusmo: I don't know, sometimes I think it is the same thing all over again, but for sure, I discover new music and musicians all the time and get inspiried by a lot of things; I get older, and older and older... so, maybe also my music changed a bit.DD: What's the story behind the terrifying name for 'Monkeytown'?Siriusmo: I think its because it is the label of Modeselektor, they have the monkey in their logo. But maybe also because they look a bit like apes, and the rest of the artists from the label are very dirty, scratching the whole time their fur, especially me.DD: What are you currently listening to?Siriusmo: Most of the time I hear my all time favourites: Ton Steine Scherben, early electronic music, hip hop... but I'm always interested in all kinds of music.DD: Who would be your dream producer/artist to work with?Siriusmo: There are a lot of big artists I would love to do something with, and I have many talented friends around me... I don't know, let's see. Dream: Stevie Wonder singing in German about Berlin, over a one minute beat from me! Backing vocals: Mr. Oizo and Q Tip. Gonzales and Helge Schneider playing a five seconds solo together, with a instrument of her choice. And so on..DD: What are you most excited about next?Siriusmo: Going on holidays.
