We're looking for a new commissioning editor for DazedDigital

Dazed Digital Commissioning Editor


APPLICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION HAVE BEEN CLOSED.

The role is divided primarily into three parts:

•    Managing the commissioning process for Dazed Digital
•    Creating Content for the site
•    Assisting the Commercial team on Dazed Digital special projects.

Reporting and Management
•    You shall report directly to Jefferson Hack and Alistair Allan. A weekly update shall be required.
•    You shall schedule weekly editorial commissioning meetings
•    You will be responsible for Managing the Dazed Digital editorial team and work closely with the magazine editorial team

Deliverables
•    Once settled we expect a minimum 3-5 articles per day (1 or 2 self written and the rest from contributors)
•    2-3 Features per week (spread across the site) working with the Fashion and magazine editorial teams to create these.

Editorial Responsibilities
•    Actively seek contributors using Dazed's presence on social networks and Dazed contacts.
•    Maintain a list of regular contributors and maintain a relationship with them (ie through a contributor newsletter)
•    Manage contributors, set deadlines and make sure  contributors understand our requirements.
•    Approach individual contributors with article ideas that would be of interest to them.
•    Solicit one-off contributions from high-profile bloggers/musicians/artists/designers.
•    Maintain a relationship with pr companies, record labels and other information sources.
•    Monitor blogs/related news sites for story ideas.
•    Liase with Dazed departments/Editors to develop article and feature ideas.
•    Monitor press releases and find the 'Story behind the story', we don't just want press releases rewritten.
•    Ensuring accuracy, maintaining house style; advising on editorial policy and implementing that policy.
•    Create standard formats for interviews/videos/profiles/articles to help contributors.
•    Source content (preferably exclusive) video/photographic/textual that we can repurpose as DazedDigital content.
•    Write articles for the site and add additional elements to sourced content to create a worthwhile article.
•    Managing the commissioning budget.




Commercial
•    Liaising with the Ad Team developing ideas to assist pitching, closing and building the revenue generating relationships for DazedDigital.
•    Project Manage editorial content for Digital projects

Development & Marketing
•    Owning the continual enhancement of the content strategy, including formulating a long term plan with competitive analysis, goals and strategies.
•    Identifying new channel opportunities. This involves assessing the opportunity through market research and working across functional (internal) groups to identify gaps in our coverage and how to better exploit these opportunities.
•    Leveraging any opportunity to promote DazedDigital by working with the people/items covered in the articles eg. by their relative PR/Publicity company or if a band on their MySpace page.
•    Work with the Marketing Manager to formulate press releases related to special coverage on the site, noteworthy partnerships etc.
