Lo-fi and distinctly obscure, Cap Pas Cap occupy that awkward no-man's-land where Sonic Youth, Talking Heads and !!! might get it on at Frank Zappa's slumber party. The vocals are pure Jekyll and Hyde, while the playful use of cowbell and xylophone are typical of their frivolous, throw-away appeal.

“We all knew each other from playing in different groups,” says singer Gavin Duffy, “and about three years ago it just happened that we were all interested in trying out something different musically so we started playing together."

“Cap pas cap” is a phrase the band heard in Yann Samuel's 2003 comedy Jeux d'enfants. “In French playgrounds, it's an exhortation to do something you're not allowed to do. T'es capable ou t'es pas capable? Have you the guts to do it?"

Evidently they have. Their cult popularity has won them a slot at the the Reading festival, a tour with Crystal Castles, and gigs with Erase Errata, The Go! Team, The Presets and The Gossip. They've also been remixed by Hot Chip and These Are Powers.

"We're all really excited about playing with James Chance and the Contortions this month, and then in December we'll be performing as part of The Eternal Now, a big Andy Warhol exhibition at the Model Arts & Niland Gallery near Dublin. We've also got a split 7" with Marnie Stern coming out, and we're hoping to record some more songs early next year."
