Dolce & Gabbana Womenswear S/S11

Published 13 months ago

Mediterranean influences pervaded the atmosphere with romantic corsetry and printed floral dresses

A slideshow of black and white images depicting Monica Belucci, food markets and the sea suggested that it was the Mediterranean atmosphere that inspired Dolce & Gabbana for next summer. However, as the show unfolded, it became clear that the duo also wanted to revisit some of their previous signature styles. There was plenty of corsetry, leopard print and – following up on last season’s antics – underwear peeking from underneath sheer fabrics. Romantic accents also made an appearance – this time in the guise of lace and crystal decoration on chemise-like gowns. Still, Dolce & Gabbana wouldn’t be the same without the retro bombshell theme running through, and this time it gained presence when the first lace-up bustiers and leopard print pencil skirts hit the runway.
