"We wanted a more mature and elegant collection that was still very
much in our spirit," says Peter Pilotto, one half of design duo behind
the label Peter Pilotto who along with Christopher De Vos both met
whilst studying at Antwerp and have gone on to establish a heady
combination of outworldly prints and sharp cuts.
Elegance was indeed abound in the putty, grey silk draped dresses,
longer lengths and strongly tailored jackets with rounded cap sleeves.
But there was still something that connected to their longtime quest to explore the galaxy in their
choice of prints that has almost become their trademark. "We really
liked this idea of a new discovery but in a classical way. It has to
be modern but still romantic and naive. We saw this otherworldly
creature landing on earth and see things differently and be fascinated
by fume, smoke and by opal effects," explains Pilotto excitedly.
So the journey of discovery continues as both Pilotto and De Vos don't
want to settle down into a routine and once again they pushed their
ideas forward with shimmering glass strands that spiked an entire
dress, iridescent threads catching light and marbled prints that
interpreted opal effects in their own way.
Karen Langley, who styled the show and whose attention was brought to
the duo because of Nicola Formichetti's support of them, refined the
styling for this season: "Last season, we really layered it a lot. This
season, we wanted it to become slightly more elegant. We haven't
layered it quite so much. But the subtleties have really come across
and I don't think it's lost any of that aspect that we have established in previous seasons."
