The American civil war influenced the designer's new collection of military pieces and camouflage trousers
For his Autumn/Winter 11 collection, James Small took inspiration from American civil war uniforms - when confederates wore state clothing with military equipment. Yankee blues and grey distinguished the two National guard regiments, whilst styles included slim navy blazers and zipper biker jackets layered over classic tailoring or grey slouched jersey trousers. Camouflage trousers were also worn with heavy biker boots to toughen up the look whilst decorative floral suits appeared, showing a more decorative and softer side.
