After last season's high-octane future-seeking collection, it was interesting to see what direction Frida Giannini would take the Gucci girl. This season, it's supposedly a sixties and nineties redux but actually what results are clothes that aren't really time-specific and instead, Giannini concentrates on investment pieces that will still sit well with the fun-loving Gucci customer. It started with a simple modish polo neck dress which set the boxy tone for the jackets and skirts that were then guided by rectangular prints incorporated into dresses. The shapes mixed the slim lines of those aforementioned decades but with the richness of texture courtesy of Giannini as well as warmed up palette of taupe, cranberry, grey and seal blue. In particular, various furs, square sequins (echoing the prints), ostrich and suede were used to lift the minimal and gently draped shapes.
