We don’t look to Isabel Marant for wheel reinvention clothing ideas because she has enough of a fervent fan base to buy into her particular brand of cool without too much persuasion. It’s always a case of women making mental shopping lists at an Isabel Marant show. Still, Marant did propose a trip of a collection that couldn’t be further away from the explorations of French chic/elegance that’s abound elsewhere on the catwalk right now. She went to a vaguely South Western state in the USA, somewhere where real cowgirls existed and fringe, denim and oversized outerwear are mainstays. This resulted in a series of denim jackets, sheepskin lined coats, chunky knits and shaggy fur coats and wool fringed capes that created volume up top to contrast with the showing of leg , the nonchalant sexy part of the collection that the Isabel Marant girl always seems to express.
