Moschino A/W11

Decadance and humour in the Italian label's signature red, black and white were the themes for the new season

Black, red and white are the recurring colours in all Moschino collections, and for Autumn/Winter '11, the Italian fashion house has again applied them to a plethora of humorous yet ladylike styles. The show offered a few different takes on a dinner jacket – some were cropped and featured gold embroidery on the lapels, others were cinched at the waist and with contrasting pockets. Fabric rosettes at the neck brought a touch of femininity to the button-up shirts, while dramatic ruffles – another big trend in the collection – added volume to the seemingly demure gowns. There was a whiff of byzantine decadence to the gold hoop earrings and cascading pearl necklaces. The latter were often paired with fur trims, metallic brocade and satin, reaffirming Moschino’s penchant for both grandeur and versatile fashion.
