Alongside numerous collaboration with brands including Balmain, Thakoon or Proenza Schouler, Zanotti also bi-annually shows his own collections, with his Autumn/Winter '11 line premiering last week in Milan. Among shoes on show were some of the designer’s biggest hits of past season – flats or peep-toes adorned with coloured crystals, high-heeled sandals with spiky studs and even heels inspired by Lego. Zanotti’s acute attention to detail translated to the most original fabric combinations one can imagine – some heels came in the mix if patent, python skin and suede, others boasted three different animal prints at the same time. The presentation also included a small selection of men’s styles, which were based around a simple trainer with metal straps and zips on both sides, as well as crystal jewellery – a recent addition to Zanotti’s main line.
