Chicago-based designers Shane Gabier and Chris Peters' collection under the name, Creatures of The Wind, was inspired by a trip to Nantucket and the idea of a sailor's wife waiting by the sea, unsure if her man would be coming home or not. The result is a rugged and heavy, yet highly feminine and sensual collection of body-hugging dresses and ladylike skirts and tweed jackets. The collection is multi-faceted, with a heavy, durable tweed trouser and bolero jacket set followed by a body-con pillar-box red knit dress. Victoriana featured heavily in lace-up black boots and brogues worn with rolled-up socks or in the burgundy red vintage-inspired tea dress or simple black version.

The duo have collaborated with exciting accessories designers for this collection, including Tabitha Simmons for shoes, and Borba Margo for the ornamental ankle cuffs, adding an extra layer of creative direction to the line. Creatures of the Wind is made out of a studio in the basement of the couple's Chicago home, perhaps explaining how it manages to stay away from the New York mainstream and remain independent. This collection is a highly wearable wardrobe for the modern woman yet keeps a streak of romanticism and individuality that will make this label one to watch in the upcoming seasons.
