While of course grounded in denim, G-Star last night showed a collection that experimented with the brand's jean foundation and kept pushing the sartorial boundaries on all fabric fronts at the same time. Using padded nylon, leather, and lots of techincal materials, G-Star presented a show of almost futuristic proportions. Mixing womens with menswear, we saw utility belts, hot pants, over sized baggy jeans and a grey wool bioler suit on the girls while the guys sported blown up denim life jackets, cropped US Army jackets, khaki canvas trousers and jackets with an abstract camouflage pattern. Raw denim was of course very much part of the fabric palette and colour wise navy, green and black prevailed. But also the use of leather impressed at the Lincoln Center catwalk. All in all, G-star kept on 'breaking through to the other side' by constantly challenging themselves - and that's always a good sign!
