Over sized sportswear included a white pea coat with a fur collar and electric blue padded lining and a hand-made version crafted from khaki wool blankets with an orange lining. These were worn over chunky cashmere knits and sleek cream tailored trousers. Artisan recycling was the main theme of the collection with industrial pieces re-worked to create something new, such as the vintage army overall that is cut in half to make cargo pants with hand-sewn patches or a two-tone pea coat made out of two separate coats. Slender pin-striped double-breasted suits and white tuxedo jackets with a satin lapel brought a lightness to the otherwise rugged collection. These are matched with a scarf cardigan to add continuity however. The models were rugged and hairy, proving Maison Martin Margiela’s vision of unabashed masculinity.
