Reference was piled upon reference to make a look that completely unique and extravagant. Tuxedo jackets were worn over long leather coats, worn over tartan t-shirts. Loose silk pajama pants and kimono style coats with oriental prints recalled the East while a U2 t-shirt worn with a pin striped blazer brought us back to the West. Pieces were layered upon each other as if Kawakubo thought, ‘Why have one when I can have five?’ Slouchy silk pants gave the illusion of a skirt, blurring the lines between masculinity and femininity, while elongated double-breasted coats felt like a child playing dress-up in a fantasy world. Silk mismatched shirts in an eclectic selection of prints, from the American Flag to delicate 80s florals, were made for wild pure hedonistic nights.
