Fashion / ShowDsquared2 Menswear A/W11Dean and Dan Caten created a winter landscape where American settlers and biker pioneers wore big hats, horn rimmed glasses and white aprons with denim and black tailored jacketsShareLink copied ✔️January 19, 2011FashionShowPhotography Morgan O'Donovan Text David Hellqvist Dsquared2 Menswear A/W11 In true Dean and Dan style, the last day of Milan's menswear week was opened by an elaborate show with an impressive stage set. Moving on from last season's American Gigolo theme, the Caten twins took us from the gym into the cold, snowy and windy mountains of North America. All in black Stetson-esque hats, the models wore typical Dsquared2 denim and the majority sported either light blue or white shirts. Many jackets had leather sleeves, and over sized gloves, suspenders and low slung stud belts completed the urban cowboy look. The slightly more formal section towards the end featured evening jackets but the show was visually characterised by aprons in either thick black leather or white shirt cotton, the big hats and horn rimmed glasses. Dazed Digital: How would you describe the collection this season?Dsquared2: It's Cool and Cold Mountain, grunge, biker pioneer and early American settlers. DD: Was that white aprons on the models?Dsquared2: Yes, we used the cut off bottom half of white shirts as aprons. We wanted to layer it up as much as possible. DD: Any favourite pieces?Dsquared2: We like the straight forward message of the collection, but in terms of individual pieces we love the denim, It's our DNA. Also the jackets with leather intervals, and the rest of the washed and distressed leather in the show. See all the exclusive coverage from Menswear AW11>> Escape the algorithm!
