Fashion / IncomingFashion Week Focus: ColoursDazed's fashion team highlights the optimistic colour palettes that kept the Spring Summer 2011 fashion shows happy through fluoro lace, tartan pieces and floral printsShareLink copied ✔️October 12, 2010FashionIncomingPhotography Morgan O'Donovan Text Elizabeth Fraser-Bell , Nelma Kalonji Fashion Week Focus: Colours Although winter is only just starting we were more than ready for an injection of optimism by the beginning of this season's fashion week. And our desires were fulfilled.... by the likes of Prada and co. We wanted colour back in our lives and we got it.... Christopher Kane delivered in London with a new take on Princess Margaret's wardrobe. Argyle print jumpers combined with fluro lace like mid length skirts and jackets - as Tammy Kane put it - the royal muse on Acid. London duo Meadham Kirchoff went a little further - the colour didn't stop with just the clothes, with hairstylist James Pecis creating a rainbow barnet. In Milan there was Jil Sander. The menswear was the perfect taster for what lay ahead in the rest of womenswear. The combination of silhouettes, colours and prints made it one of the most desirable shows of this season. We stay in Milan and continue with Prada: brogues with multi layered platforms, striped sombreros and who thought fur was only for winter? Stripped fur stolas is all we want. Versus, Mr Kane's second take, presented on what looked like a schoolyard playground with a uniform of tartan and floral trousers, shirts and dresses accessorized by satchel rucksacks. We certainly wish we had that to replace our brown nylon jumpers and itchy pleated skirts! And last but not least, the summer bride in Paris. Viktor & Rolf's show inspired by the classic men's shirt developed into not one but eleven bridal gowns. Short, long, masculine, feminine; all building up to the final dress. We are excited about next summer, shame its so far away. Keep an eye out for these amazing new pieces in our January issue! Escape the algorithm!
