With its impressive leather heritage there was no surprise in the direction Tod’s took for its Spring Summer collection. Everything from soft calfskin to more exotic python and crocodile hides were used in the extensive bag collection. Debuting its Shirt bag, Tod’s introduced a coulisse closure and presented the accessory in a range of different colour combinations, fusing neutrals and bright shades. At its Milan presentation, Tod’s also premiered its latest film project in collaboration with Teatro alla Scala. ‘An Italian Dream’ features 13 ballet dancers from Teatro alla Scala performing in a piece choreographed by Gianluca Schiavoni. The young performers interpret through dance the multiple steps that take place in the process of making a Tod’s product. The collaborative effort perfectly merges two creative disciplines in a beautiful way. Stephane Lissner, the Artistic Director of La Scala said of the project: “The idea behind this collaboration comes from a shared passion – the daily ritual of traditional skills and know how that produces the peerless quality that lies at the heart of ‘Made in Italy.’ Every set and costume is created entirely by our artisans in our theatre’s workshop”.
