London's MAN collective celebrate there 7th season with a collaboration with colette in Paris. Click on the designers to watch the interviews.
Since MAN, the pioneering collaboration between Topman and Lulu Kennedy's Fashion East, began back in 2005, London fashion week has become increasingly well known for its showcasing of menswear talents. The MAN event is presented on the last day of London fashion week, as a collective platform for some of the most exciting, new menswear designers coming out of London as well as presenting their own constantly evolving signature label Topman Design.
Previous MAN Alumni have been Siv Stoldal, Benjamin Kirchhoff, Patrik Soderstam, Lotta Skeletrix, Deryck Walker, Kim Jones, David David, Cassette Playa, Carola Euler, Aitor Throup, and more recently Kesh, Hans Madsen and James Long, and with the new line up having just been confirmed for London Fashion week's Spring/Summer 2009 MAN show in September, the consistent calibre of designers selected for MAN show no sign weakening. James Long will be showing again thanks to his exceptional MAN debut last season as will knitwear mastermind Hans Madsen. Christopher Shannon, who recently graduated from Central St Martin's Menswear MA, taught by the infamous Louise Wilson, who for the first time in 10 years granted him a scholarship onto the course, will be showcasing his debut collection since graduating.
As well as Chris another newcomer is Paris based design collective Andrea Cruz, who have been selected by guest member of the MAN judging panel Sarah from colette. They will be presenting their work with a performance based presentation and to finish the show will be the formidable Topman Design collection, which goes from strength to strength with each season.
This season MAN have decided to reach outside of London, to raise awareness of our home grown menswear talents on a more international scale by partnering up with the style oracle of Parisian fashion, colette. MAN has always strived to lead the way on up and coming menswear talents, offering a platform to get recognised. This season MAN has gone one step further in reinforcing this cross channel collaboration. Available to buy in store from today will be limited edition bags and T-shirts with graphics created by each MAN designer, to be sold exclusively in the colette store. Also in store is a dedicated MAN designers concession, where pieces by each designer will be sold. To celebrate this MAN invasion in Paris, a 'Brit Disco' party will be held this Friday during menswear fashion week at the colette store.
