Celebrating 25 years in the business, Tommy Hilfiger put on a 'Best Of' show on Sunday evening. The designer claims to define American style and there’s no doubt that there is something for everyone in his shows. The length and width of his S/S11 collection testified to that. Focused on his preppy themes (why change a winning team?), Hilfiger launched into a manifesto of all the pieces we have come to love him for. The girls wore cropped and boxy blazers, often teamed up with short and pleated skirts. In terms of outerwear, also trench coats, double-breasted jackets and pea coats appeared. Checks mixed with stripes, seersucker suits shared the catwalk with fishtail parkas. Every single pastel colour available to mankind was called up for duty, and one thing is for sure: they won! You know what to expect from a Hilfiger show, but there’s a reason Tommy didn’t change direction years ago. His preppy and slightly retro style works wherever, whenever.
