In reference to Coco Chanel's horoscope, the sign of Leo, a magnificent golden lion sat in wait of creative director Karl Lagerfeld's Autumn/Winter '10 Couture models. Quietly clutching a pearl, the gilded beast was soon overshadowed by the stream of opulent fabrics in golds and bronzes. Brocade coats with puffball bracelet sleeves trimmed with black detailing were worn with ample layers of jewels and shimmering cuffs were shown alongside prim & proper tweed dresses, which seemed inches thick at knee-lengths, cut with 3/4 sleeves. Floral embroidery on matte black adorned with gold buttons surprisingly cropped up as the only black pieces, whilst a metallic panelled dress with amber ruffles and cut-out details alongside a blaring ruby red draped satin gown brought brighter colours to the distinctly Parisian show.
