Prada was the unofficial highlight of the week. Is Miuccia even capable of doing a sartorial mistake? Possibly, but her SS’ 11 wasn’t one of them, that’s for sure. Opening up with a few narrow suits, Prada paid homage to its groundbreaking silhouette of the 90s. Slim and slick, the suits had three buttons, some of them with boat neck jumpers underneath. The shoes, which ran through the entire show, were formal brogues with two soles; one part espadrille, one part sporty trainer sole.
Denim was a big theme, in both tops and bottoms. One of those stand out pieces was a V-neck boxy T-shirt, inspired by surgery and dental nurse uniforms, that also came in its original white and blue colour way. Blue, but a more electric shade, featured heavily as wide trousers and shorts. Heavy stripy knits came multi coloured, preparing for the strongest colour of the show; a bright orange jacket. Apparently, a few outfits were inspired by the uniforms of fast food chains! Miuccia Prada’s mind works in mysterious, yet wonderful, ways.
