No one captures ‘sex’ on the catwalk as Donatella Versace. And, as we saw on Friday, it isn’t only for ladies that she offers that service. She has found a way of bottling it and selling it’s like hotcakes in the sun. The SS ’11 was one of those stellar Versace shows that really raised the bar 1950’s rockabilly inspired party wear. Dominated all the way through by a deep blood red shade, we saw a show full of slim suits, narrowly cut coats and high-waisted trousers on quiff sporting models.

But mostly we noticed the wonderfully excessive use of jewellery. Almost all models sported silver necklaces and medallions around their necks, adding to an already strong sense of a rock star uniform. And what better to been seen and admired than to loudly clash? Versace did just that with both colours and prints with a tirade of characteristically graphic on shirts, of which many were - of course - sleeveless. Brilliant.
