The Nottingham-based label launch exclusive summer jacket in online shop

How do you measure the strength of a menswear label, be it a Savile Row or a high street located one? By the design qualities of their tailored jackets, both casual and formal. Getting all the details right is easier said than done. Stitching, shoulders, weight, lining; all have to be perfect, otherwise the jacket just won’t fit. Universal Works’ new Spring Summer collection – available at My-Wardrobe.com – has perfectly found the balance between all the ingredients. One excellent example of this is their Navy Check Piped Cotton Blazer, which has been produced exclusively to My-Wardrobe.
As a two-button jacket with a unique asymmetric madras check trim along the lapels, the jacket
is the perfect summer jacket: stylish, subtle yet unique. “We have looked to create the perfect
blazer for Spring Summer, even if you are not part of the rowing team! This
one-off style jacket is limited-edition and all pieces are individually
numbered by hand to give the wearer something truly unique”, says David Keyte, founder and designer of Universal Works.
With
a production run of only twenty, the jacket is truly limited in its edition. And
with its reasonable price of £135 it is destined to sell out soon. “Taking the original ‘suit jacket’
style - a Universal Works favourite, which is more in keeping with the
classic British work jacket, versus Saville Row tailoring. To give it an edge, we added a madras checked
cotton bound trim to our dark navy twill cloth, broadening the lapels to give
more of a ‘sports jacket’ feel”, Keyte explains.
