The fringed berets perched on top of all the models were the perfect accoutrement to go with the swathes of black velvet that ensued in this Giorgio Armani collection. Mainly concentrating on an inky black with small diversions to forest green, this fabric punctured the show with draped dresses, evening jackets and A-line skirts. Armani's tailoring was guided by a broad shoulder shaped that graced most of the jackets with an almost-austere closed-neck finish. Whilst black velvet prevailed, colour and a few prints did make their way in with touches of candy pink, orange and red in the dressier ensembles.
