London fashion week kick started on Saturday in its usual style with a strength and focus on new talent.
One of the first shows of the day was Bjork and McElliggott. Kattis Bjork and Sophie McElligott have only recently graduated from Middlesex University and have joined forces to create their own label together. Along with Bjork and McElligott the Middlesex fashion BA seems to have had a successful run of graduates this season, such as Ashley Fletcher who is now designing for David David, David Bradley who is designing for House of Holland and Michael Olestad Nybraten who will be going to work for Ann Sofie Back.

Bjork and McElligott's debut was a confident collection on 10 mens and 10 womens looks, the colorful pallet and relaxed silhohettes conjure a feeling of south of France chic, wide leg silk trousers and tunic shirts for men in pastels.
Fitted suit jackets and tailored shorts with blue suede ankle boots, contrast the dainty elegance of the womenswear, comprising origami like folds, feminine curves and intricate pleating. Exploring the possibilities in materials is something girls hold in high regard, raw silks, chiffons and treated cottons, are used to create intricate pleats, folds and graphic prints, while glass is used for corsetry and luggage.

The show was a very exciting debut from a promising, young label. With so many ideas and a focus on quality and finishing, these girls are set to have a promising career ahead of them.
