Jonathan Saunders Womenswear A/W10

The injection of utilitarian and a looser play with his graphic prints and lines brought on an onslaught of freshness.

We may have been chilly but Jonathan Saunders' girls weren't feeling it what with the piles of fresh palette, sportswear references and light refraction techniques. It was distinctly summer but perhaps that was a comment on the seasonal chaos that we're embroiled in. The main preoccupation for Saunders though was articulating his prints - enlarged rose prints, watercolour stripes and light dots that looked like something from a UVA installation - with utilitarian and sportswear features. Shapes were loose, skirts were gathered and loose-slung, jackets were mannish and there were parkas aplenty. Detailing came by way of the laser cut-out matrix printer dot pattern in the skirts, thick jersey fringing as well as panels of PVC that acted as light reflectors.
