N.Hoolywood, one
of Tokyo's most impressive brands, have just released their
spring/summer runway show. N.Hoolywood made their name with deep and
detailed concepts, and have stepped up another gear again on this
collection. The main theme is 'After Sputnik' which is all about Apollo
11.
Designer Daisuke Obana said "I know that many people still
think that Apollo 11 didn't land on the moon, so I included both sides
of hypotheses: one thinks landed and others not into the collection".
He didn't choose any stereotypical futuristic looks that are usually
associated with outer space, such as silver colors or metallic fabrics,
but wanted instead to express conceptual pictures of those who were
involved in Apollo 11.
The highlight of the collection were huge
t-ponchos with Apollo related slogans; their huge shapes and
silhouettes definitely made the collection stronger and much more edgy.
Also, Obana's signature suits looked amazing with new colors and shapes
added to the range. N.Hoolywood Compile line is now stocked at Colette
and will expand to the rest of world from 2008 S/S season. I'm sure
that they would be a favorite contender to emulate success of Number
(N)ine on the global scale.
