The non profit project Fashion East set up by The Old Truman Brewery in 2000 to support upcoming designers in London has once again got Topshop as its headline sponsor for the fourteenth consecutive season. For A/W '10, Fashion East sees the highly anticipated return of Michael van der Ham and Heikki Salonen for a second season, along with the blazing debut of headwear extraordinaire Nasir Mazhar. Dazed Digital tracked down a few sneak images and quizzed the designers on 'what five words sum up their collections' for A/W '10.

Headwear specialist Nasir Mazhar who creates outrageous and otherworldly head gear worn by the likes of Madonna and Lady Gaga as well as collaborating with the likes of Gareth Pugh, Richard Nicoll and Romain Kremer, says his new collection will be based on: "Fearless sexy ghetto gangsta lords."

Michael van der Ham with his gloriously feminine creations combining vintage elements and an unusual collaging of fabrics will be involved in a collaboration with Liberty prints, supported byYasmin Sewell, creative director of Liberty. Van der Ham suggests his A/W '10 line will be "Collaged, Mismatched, Layered, Patterned, Expressionistic."

Whilst Heikki Salonen’s first collection featured strong tailoring and pared down grunge proved to be an instant hit, leading to editorials in POP, Wonderland, L'Officiel, Sunday Times, and Vogue. A/W '10 promises a more sophisticated silhouette and use of luxurious materials, with Salonen describing it as 'The Alchemy of Uncompromising Womanity'.
