Bistroteque hosted the second annual Bistroteque Annual Drag Ball 2 - where fashion houses battle to be the best.
Wednesday night saw Bistroteque's second annual event that showcases London's leading and most creative queens. Taking heed from the drag ball culture of mid-to-late 80s New York City, the ball (or rather, catwalk show) held at Shoreditch Town Hall, strikes a chord with Jennie Livingston's 1990 documentary film 'Paris is Burning'.
The B.A.D. Ball 2 claims to be 'a fashion event like no other' where a number of 'Houses' battle it out over several rounds of strutting, dancing, singing, rolling and wheeling down the catwalk; we saw it all! The contestants are judged on the 'look' and performance that each has uniquely interpreted from the given theme; and are awarded by a panel of judges which reading like a guide of today's fashion icons, including Dazed's very own Nicola Formichetti, Clothes Show’s teen icon Caryn Franklin, Vogue's Harriet Quick, make-up artist superstar Pat McGrath and fashion designer Henry Holland.
Contestants included Houses of Eygpt, BoomBox, Fierce Nest, KCTV, Independent Dependents, Legends, Maison Chateau d'Eau, Maison du Bois, and Enfants du Bois.
