Giles Deacon’s capsule collection for thecorner.com has just launched. The greatly anticipated shop space dedicated to the British designer currently features a Lurex bustier dress, a skirt and top characterised by a flower petal decoration. While the capsule collection perfectly ties in with the Christmas festivities, Giles’ fans will have to wait until January to shop online for the Spring / Summer 2010 collection that will be available on thecorner.com a few days after the designer will showcase his new creations at the next Pitti_W Woman event.
“We are very interested in avant-garde designers with a strong personality and an interesting background,” Leonardo Girombelli, thecorner.com Brand Manager told Dazed. “We immediately liked Giles, his experience in the fashion industry and his creations. He is a very humble and extremely creative designer and has reached a considerable level of maturity in the last few years. Time was definitely right to start investing upon him, but we also felt we are living in a difficult historical moment in which a healthy dose of irony is really needed to get us through on an everyday basis and he has definitely got it.”
Giles represents a new and exciting challenge for thecorner.com, but Girombelli is positive that he will manage to reach out to new fashion fans outside the UK and Europe, also thanks to the three main qualities that characterise his design, avant-garde, research and quality. “I’m positive that Giles’ attitude combined with the high standards of an entirely made in Italy production will turn him into an interesting player in the women’s wear industry,” Girombelli states. “In January thecorner.com will feature further interesting American, British and Italian men and women’s wear designers that combine cutting-edge design with quality, so you will have to stay tuned to see more amazing creations.”
