Despite the festivity and creativity on display at London Fashion Week, Isabella Blow's absence leaves an omnipresent void in every front row.

As her stately, elegant and touching memorial tribute at Guards Chapel on September 18th demonstrated, Blow brought out the best in everyone she encountered.

From a distance, one would mistake the sight of so many women in Philip Tracey hats for an other-world version of the Ascot races, but inside the Guard's Chapel it was evident that this was a quintessentially fashion event.

Anna Wintour gave the first address and told warm, witty stories of arriving at work eager to see what Blow had whipped together as an office outfit. Suzy Menkes followed with a spirited speech and everyone exchanged bawdy and funny personal stories of one of fashion's most generous and creative spirits.
