Having debuted his label with Browns, in 2006, the South Molton Street boutique invited Marios Schwab to develop a creative space within every window at the store, to explore and develop the themes that inspired his A/W 09 collection. The end result reveals the artist and experimentalist within Marios, using elements used in each window including 3D visuals and vinyl, anaglyphic prints taken from the collection, created in collaboration with artist Tom Gallant, and a full length Swarovski encrusted wall fissure built in to a window of the store, behind which lies one of Marios signature dresses made with Crystallized Swarovski Elements. One window displays three mannequins, dressed in identical ruby red silk grosgrain and Swarovski embellished dresses, showing the strength of repetition whilst the backdrops of red and cyan acetate allude to 3D glasses. Whilst two other windows play with dimensions, such as with silk jersey crystal print dresses as placed in front of a backdrop featuring the same print, creating the sense that they are merging into and out of their surroundings. 3D glasses are also attached to the windows to invite passers by to participate. Jet-black Swarovski crystals are clustered at their feet, as the mannequins appear to emerge from the black lacquered floor. Further on, the theme of expansion is represented by a colourful explosion of sequins and in the rear window, Marios Schwab continues to be inspired by crystal fissures and for this window has created a nude coloured stone wall that is split open to show hundreds of Swarovski crystals within. The windows are launched on the eve of London Fashion Week and will remain present for three weeks, being part of a tour that has included Saks 5th Avenue, Joyce Hong Kong, and will conclude at Maria Luisa Paris during Paris Fashion Week.
