Perhaps it's recent flux of designers collaborating on theatre/opera costume projects that spurred Marc Jacobs on for his own theatre-led collection. Aspects like theatre-going-attire, Broadway costumes and even panto (see Aladdin trousers) were all there with much frothy excess, weighted down by the geisha-esque platform sandals and also contrasting with the models' kabuki white make-up.
