Fashion / ShowY-3 Womenswear S/S10A tribute to global football style played out at Park Avenue's Armoury.ShareLink copied ✔️September 14, 2009FashionShowText Dazed Digital Y-3 Womenswear S/S10 FIFA World Cup is coming up and Y-3 made a celebration of it but as always, in the abstracted way that has come to define Y-3's vision of sportswear. Silhouettes were exaggerated in the form of exaggerated trousers and voluminous skirts. A reference to goal netting played out in see-through cotton-eyelet pieces. The flags of the nations sponsored by Adidas: Mexico, South Africa, Germany, Japan, Spain, Argentina, France and Russia were all reinterpreted.“When the soccer players shoot and hit the goal, the net swings into a beautiful shape. This inspired a series of laser-cut T-shirts and dresses that captured the same movement," explains Yohji Yamamoto. As an amazing finale, a net from the ceiling dropped down whilst models representing those nations came up to take a penalty kickwith a photographer acting as goalee. Then Yamamoto and Zinedine Zidane came out to take a kick, both scoring of course.Photography by Nathan Heyward Escape the algorithm!
