Listen to one of Karl Lagerfeld’s final interviews on new Chanel podcast

The Parisian house has released the episode as part of its 3.55 series, recorded in New York after the designer’s Pre-Fall 2019 show

With fashion month still ongoing, we’ve not yet had chance to properly process the passing of Karl Lagerfeld. The legendary designer’s final collection for Fendi debuted at MFW last week, and tomorrow will see his last ever Chanel collection on the closing day of PFW

Ahead of the AW19 show, one of Lagerfeld’s final interviews has been released by the Parisian house as part of its 3.55 podcast series. Recorded at the end of last year in New York after the Pre-Fall 2019 show, the designer is recorded in conversation with editor-in-chief of Monocle, Tyler Brûlé, talking about his work for the house.

“My job is to propose a fantasy,” he states, a sentiment that isn’t hard to believe when you look at all of the OTT sets the designer imagined for his shows over the years. Elsewhere, he discusses the power of collaboration, and how he never imagined creating a career for himself in fashion.
