Having worked together for some years in the Australian fashion industry, Imogene Barron and Bec Parsons stumbled upon their similar WANT for more freedom in creating images that personally inspired them. Imogene reveals, “We had been throwing around the idea of starting something up for a while, we just wanted to keep shooting what we love when we feel inspired by someone or something. It’s really great to have a platform for us to showcase our work and ideas”. With suitcases full of budding designer fashion, camera in tow and only the money in their pockets, the completely self funded first issue was shot and printed. With an underlying fashion theme the images are effortless, unaffected and striking and a complete visual triumph. The photographs may be about what inspires the duo, but with each page you are swept away thinking about all that inspires you. “The three of us myself, Bec and Bart (Bec’s husband and man about town) who does all of the amazing post production work sat down and talked about numerous ideas for hours… We all share a similar vision, and it’s great having Bart on board as he has a slightly different perspective to Bec and I. Creating a purely image based fashion zine was something none of us had seen before, it’s completely new. We want it to be a collectable, a keep sake not just a throw away fashion magazine, it’s more about beautiful images that won’t date.” The debut issue quickly sold out but people from across the globe are still trying to get their hands on this little piece of Australian imagination… Issue #2 is currently in production and Imogene gives us a little insight into what we can expect from the next drop, “We are bringing more people on board for the next issue, we are going to keep expanding the contributors and bring more creative people and ideas to the table. There are going to be new photographer collaborations and we are looking at changing up the format and making each issue completely unique… so with each issue you’ll never really know what to expect. The imagery will always remain the key. We are also looking into more avenues for distribution so we can reach everyone globally..” Escape the algorithm!
