Yu Fujiwara captures the hustle and bustle of NYFW

The photographer returns to shoot the streets outside the SS19 womenswear shows

As quickly as it came around, New York Fashion Week is now behind us. As models take to the runway in Milan this weekend, Yu Fujiwara has blessed us once again with a snapshot of all the goings-on off the catwalk. The documentary photographer captures the characters hanging about the on the Big Apple’s streets, picture perfect and catwalk ready, alongside New Yorkers minding their own business (or just trying to get past Dazed 100 model Adesuwa and friends).

Neon hair and pastel get-ups are all featured in this collection of work – not to mention Paloma Elsesser pulling up in her blacked-out 4x4 and a humble Whoopi Goldberg in triple denim (she’s a dream). Elsewhere, Kate Moss and current Dazed cover star Sara Grace Wallerstedt also appear.

In contrast to the fruitful, optimistic energy that came from the catwalk, Fujiwara never fails to record the unorthodox atmosphere with urban images of local graffiti displaying ‘Deport Trump’ and screwed up police caution tape in the midst of the prestigious shows.
