Oppure: More than Fashion Photography

Published 23 months ago

Five new Italian photography talents deal with model Hannelore Knuts in their own way.

The new exhibition space Monotono in the old city centre of Vicenza is currently playing host to five emerging photographers who want to show an other side to fashion photography (‘oppure’ meaning ‘otherwise’ in Italian). In a special section of the exhibition, Alessio Bolzoni, Giuseppe Gasparin, Carlotta Manaigo, Lele Saveri and Chiara Romagnoli were given the chance to work with model Hannelore Knuts, muse of Steven Meisel and so we get their “5 Ways to Deal With Hannelore."

Collectively the group have photographed for Rolling Stone, Dazed, V Man, Figaro and Crash so we should be seeing more of them in the future beyond this exhibition.

Alessio Bolzoni
"Was amazing. She's a great person with an intelligent way to work. She immediately understood what I was looking for in her. Me, Rossana and her were exactly on the same wavelength and everything came out naturally."

Chiara Romagnoli
“She was great! She is intense, funny and very versatile.... I loved working with her.”

Carlotta Manaigo
“She was so spontaneous and comfortable with herself and the camera. Photographing Hannelore felt like catching up with an old time friend on a sunny and lazy Saturday morning. With absolute naturalness she transformed from a sophisticated woman sitting in my flat gracefully smoking a cigarette into a powerful, black leather dressed centaur. Inspiring!”

Lele Saveri
"I went to meet Hannelore at the airport and I knew she had been shooting for the past 3 days with all the other 4, so i was worried she would be very tired. I tried to make her relax and offered her some vodka. That way I felt more confident too, and we just hung out on a rooftop. It felt more like spending some time with friends, which is what I was after."

Giuseppe Gasparin
"The whole team had breakfast together at mine and we get to know each other,  then we took pics straight after as bunch of friends: easy and fun!"

Special thanks to Rossana Passalacqua and 2DM agency. Hannelore Knuts is wearing clothes by Haider Ackermann and Acne.

‘Oppure’ exhibition open at Monotono, Viale Milano 60, Vicenza Italy until September 11.
