This modelling agency based in Cologne was originally supposed to be a thesis project but has found success through their unique casting films.

Kira Bunse and Eva Gödel have been running their model agency Nine Daughters and a Stereo for seven years in the unexpected location of Cologne, with no prior experience and without the international sprawling networks that a lot of the big agencies have. They now represent over a hundred faces that have worked for the likes of Rick Owens, Raf Simons and Lanvin. What sets them apart from other agencies is when you immediately log into their website, a loop of casting films start to play, showing a different side to models beyond the static and blank expressions on model cards. We speak to Bunse and Gödel about how they started and showcase the films that they have created for their boys and girls.

DD: What are you picks for the newest faces (boys and girls) on your books and what do you find special about them?
Kira Bunse and Eva Gödel: In general we like the natural eclectic look and youthful enthusiasm. We like the look of Tim F who is poetic and energetic at the same time. We love Patrick for his strong look and natural kindness. And Mathias P for his unusual and versatile facial features. And we like Max D for his youthful energy. We like the German grace and natural beauty of Carolin and the mystery in Camille's innocent face.

DD: What differentiates NDAAS from other modelling agencies?
Kira Bunse and Eva Gödel: I am not sure how other agencies are, because we never worked for or with any other agencies.
We always do what we like and how we think it is best. A general difference is that all our models are casted by ourselves and that we represent them all exclusively worldwide.

DD: How did a thesis project turn into a real business?
Kira Bunse and Eva Gödel: It turned by itself and by demand. We had our website up and people started talking about it. Our first bookings were when we casted the boys for Raf Simons show, for Stephan Schneider and Rick Owens. Then Nicola Formichetti called and he did the very first editorial shoot with our boys for Dazed and same season Alister Mackie and Willy Vanderperre did a beautiful big story with our boy Patrick G for Another Magazine.
Then we just went on...

DD: What are your most memorable NDAAS moments so far?
Kira Bunse and Eva Gödel: Our first seasons when we went by bus with the boys to Paris not really knowing what to expect but totally curious. There are always some boys who travel the very first time to a foreign country through us...its nice to see how they enjoy and grow from it. We will never forget our boys' first show for Raf Simons SS04, the following shows and especially the outdoor show at the Pitti S/S 06. Also all our cooperation with Rick Owens starting when he made our boys walk during his women shows.
We are very proud that Olivier Rizzo and Willy Vanderperre made our boy Lucas R the cover of the Arena Homme Plus anniversary issue. And we are very happy that the boys really take a lot with them from the experiences they have during modelling...they get interested in languages, some boys decide to study photography, some boys we help to find apprenticeships for after school and and we become close friends with a lot of the boys and girls we meet in our agency.
