Wales Bonner and Craig Green up for major fashion award

The British Fashion Awards nominations are out – find out who else is up for an award here

The British Fashion Awards is essentially UK fashion industry’s answer to the Academy Awards. They’ve got everything: a red carpet, paps, celebs and awards, obviously. Last night the nominations were announced and two of our favourite emerging designers are up for an award – but not in the emerging designers category.

Yep, Craig Green and Grace Wales Bonner have been nominated for the British Menswear Designer award, along with three industry heavyweights: Tom Ford, Vivienne Westwood and J.W.Anderson who took home two trophies last year and is, in actual fact, up for four awards this year.

In the emerging talent category, it’s club kid Charles Jeffrey who’s been nominated, along with denim provocateur Faustine Steinmetz and tulle party dress queen Molly Goddard. As for International Model (a new category), former Dazed cover star Lineisy Montero is nominated, as well as Gurls Talk founder Adwoa Aboah and Instagam It models Kendall, Gigi and Bella

That’s not the only new category, there’s also the Urban Luxury Award – an accolade that Gosha Rubchinskiy, Off-White, Palace and Vetements are nominated for.

“Huge congratulations to all the Fashion Awards 2016 nominees! It’s an incredible achievement and a very well-deserved recognition for their achievements this year,” said British Fashion Council chairwoman Natalie Massenet in a statement. “The shortlisted nominees prove the incredible talent we are so fortunate to work with both at home and abroad. This year’s ceremony will be thrilling and I look forward to welcoming all our guests to London and to what has become one of the most-anticipated highlights of the global fashion calendar.”

With 4,000 people looking on, the winners will be announced at a big gala in aid of the British Fashion Council Education Foundation at the Royal Albert Hall on December 5th.
