In true Galliano style, the Dior Couture runway offered up a bold, ostentatious array of voluminous dresses with exaggerated detail. Beginning with bold mustard, cornflower blue and deep red the collection was opened with dramatically cinched, corseted waistlines and ballooning skirts. Characterised with elements of 17th century Flemish painters, it was easy to forget that a recession is upon us in a hyper imagined post-modern old world reality as the show moved into exaggerated ball gowns adorned with intricate embroidery, and cast in a palette of feminine pastels.
