The John Varvatos A/W09 Milan show was held in an old church accompanied by the sound of The Velvet Underground's "Heroin". Out came a rebellious yet neatly styled collection focusing predominantly on the details of suiting, boot cut suit trousers and narrow fit suit jackets in a dark palette made of flannels, herringbone and pinstripe fabrics. In addition elongated knits, soft leathers, chain detail belts and fedoras on boys with long disheveled hair created a Rolling Stones, rock and roll feel. Overall, it was a nostalgic look back to the late 1970s skinny suit silhouette that combined with with flawless cast of long haired, grunge style boys including Nick Cave's son, Jethro Cave.
